Hats off to The Bay Promo Team who put together a wonderful, exciting and action-packed event for Herne Bay and the whole of the South East Coast!
The team consists of a handful of volunteers who have to work very hard in organising and raising funds to put on this type of display. Plus some additional merry volunteers who are there to help make the day run smoothly and assist visitors.
The day went without many incidents. One obvious incident (which was all over the news) was the Turbulent Display plane, which landed in the water off the coast of Bishopstone, by Reculver Towers. The pilot walked away from the incident with minor injuries, but was taken to hospital to get checked out. If it wasn’t for the quick thinking of the pilot to land the plane in the shallow water, away from the public, the story would have been different. It was also amazing how bystanders speedily ran out to the plane to help flip it over and push it back to shore. Well done to all involved.
The weather was perfect, the displays were amazing to watch and there was plenty to see, do and keep you amused.
The day didn’t end there though! The Friends of the Clock Tower put on some evening entertainment in the form of Freddie Mercury and QueenII. Watch this video to see the crowds have fun and sing along to Radio GaGa https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXJszB7I1L8
We’re looking forward to the 2017 show already….listen out for any more news on the BayPromo Team facebook page.
